Debi's Picks of the Week
2004 Domaine Tempier, La Tourtine,
Bandol
$57.99(R)/$49.29(C)
This is a beautiful Bandol from Tempier with another
bewitching nose of blackberry, boysenberry, leather and a
touch of tar. The palate is full bodied, well defined with
exquisite balance and purity. Like the 2005, there is a
minerality here that lends the wine character. Touch of
bitter cherry lingers on the after taste. Very long and
persistency. Cellaring essential for this stupendous wine or
if drinking now, decant. 94RP
2002 Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste,
Bordeaux, Pauillac
$35.99(R)/$30.59(C)
Fifth growth. This is a lighter styled Pauillac
with some herbaceous, spicy red currant and plum scents.
Shows herbal notes on the palate with black tea and red
fruits, currants and cherries. A pleasant picnic style
of wine that is ready to drink!
2005 Jean-Luc Colombo, Force One
Syrah, Coronas
$105.99(Reg)/$90.09(Club)
Colombo's newest cuvee is the 2005 Cornas Force One,
which comes from 60 year old vines. Like its siblings, it
possesses a dense purple color as well as a deep, cedary,
black currant and blackberry-scented nose with notions of
licorice, barbecue spices, and truffles. Full-bodied and
powerful, with high tannins that appear sweeter than those
found in the other cuvees, it should age well for 15-20
years. 90RP/93WS
